Jen's Journey Back to Yoga
I started regularly moving my body again about a month ago. I guess we can call this exercise! I have very sporadically practiced hatha yoga over the past 2 years between a difficult pregnancy and having my 3rd child at 42. It's been a slow roll. But I thought I'd share this journey to keep myself accountable and because I know there are others feeling similar.
I will be recording some of my practices. I am not teaching in these recordings. It's accountability and a record of progress. Time progress. You won't see before and after pictures of me or anything like that. I am working to love the body I'm in while reminding myself every day that I will be making healthy choices...like I know how!!!!
You'll find videos and some discussions below, maybe it will inspire you? If you choose to follow along or do your own practiced based on anything you see, always listen to your body and honor where you are in every moment. Yoga is never about comparisons or getting anywhere. It's just about being in your body with your breath while witnessing all of the comings and goings of the mind.
Feel free to leave questions or comments on the youtube videos and to share with others that might resonate with the sentiment.
My videos are not perfect at all. My house is not perfect either. What you see is what you get.

In this video I worked to either hold a posture for 11 breaths or flow through 11 times. It was hard but it also felt pretty good and I didn't make it for 11 breaths every time.
Working to strengthen my core in other ways than crunches! I love taking moments to meditate in between. I highly recommend doing that! Meditation is so simple... just breathe and pay attention to your breath. You might be say I CAN'T MEDITATE!! but you can. Everyone's brain is full of thoughts, it's totally normal. Just doing it is what is important just like yoga. NO PERFECTION, JUST PRACTICE!
I sped this one up because it's purely entertainment! I got a little practice in. Yoga has helped me to be more patient and not take life too serious. Chose postures that call to you and repeat them. Repetition builds strength and flexibility. It also regulates breathing and tones the nervous system. I always say to my yoga teacher trainees...repetitive exposure is how we learn! It's a beautiful thing and in the instance of our physical practice it becomes meditation in motion.
